Overview

A route to market only works when it can be executed.

Commercial opportunities are often easy to identify but much harder to convert into sustainable growth. Organisations can lose focus by pursuing too many audiences, channels or territories at once, without a clear proposition or an honest assessment of the resources required to succeed.

We begin by defining the opportunity. This includes understanding the market, customer need, competitive environment and the organisation’s existing strengths. The objective is to establish where there is genuine potential, which assumptions require testing and where investment is most likely to create a meaningful commercial return.

Audience prioritisation is essential. A broad target market rarely provides enough clarity to guide commercial action. We identify the customers, partners or stakeholders that matter most, understand what influences their decisions and define how the proposition should respond to their needs.

The proposition must then communicate a clear and relevant reason to engage. We help organisations sharpen their positioning, articulate the value they create and ensure the offer is both commercially attractive and operationally deliverable. This creates a stronger foundation for sales, marketing, partnerships and customer communication.

Channel strategy determines how the proposition reaches the market. Depending on the opportunity, this may include direct sales, retail, ecommerce, distribution, licensing, strategic partnerships or a combination of routes. We assess each option against commercial potential, cost, control, capability and speed to market.

Where growth involves new territories, we assess the attractiveness, accessibility and commercial requirements of each market. This includes comparing direct and distributor-led models, evaluating local channel structures and understanding the investment, capability and support required to enter successfully. The result is a prioritised expansion plan rather than a broad list of possible markets.

We then translate priority audiences and channels into a practical account plan. This can include identifying and ranking target retailers, distributors, rights holders and commercial partners, developing the proposition and supporting materials for each audience, and establishing a clear engagement sequence. Where appropriate, we support senior outreach, introductions, meetings and early opportunity development while ensuring ownership and capability remain within the client organisation.

A credible go-to-market strategy must also address activation. We translate strategic choices into priorities, responsibilities, milestones and measures of success. This gives internal teams and external partners a shared understanding of what needs to happen, when it needs to happen and how progress will be evaluated.

Our support can range from evaluating a specific market opportunity through to building and activating a complete go-to-market plan. We work alongside leadership, commercial and delivery teams to test assumptions, develop sales tools, support key conversations and refine the plan using market evidence. The aim is not a strategy document in isolation, but a commercially credible route to growth that the organisation can execute and continue to scale.
